About Gina
Gina was the most faithful, caring, and silly person. She was an influential leader in many meaningful life ministries. She wanted everyone to be loved, respected, and to follow Jesus. Gina was a valedictorian of the Monticello High School graduating class of 2024. She has made a lasting impact in Unified programs across Minnesota. She played soccer, but what she valued even more was coaching the younger generation. She was a competitive dancer and loved the sport. One of Gina’s greatest joys was leading worship with her twin, Dinah at church on Sunday mornings. She played the flute for 8 years and loved to express herself through music. If you knew Gina, you knew a master chef who adored cooking for her family and friends. Dinah and Gina’s dream was to own cafes and employ individuals with and without special needs. The family’s saying was, “Everyone needs a Gina.”
Gina passed away in a dirt bike accident on August 1st, 2024 - her and Dinah’s 18 1/2 birthday. She was on an adventure in Wyoming with her Dad and twin sister. They were excited for their last trip before starting college in a few weeks.
About Us
As Gina’s family, it’s our hope to shift the focus on her death to her influential life. She was an incredible young lady and had such a grasp on life at her age. We were amazed by her qualities. We barely take any credit for who she was. She was wonderful and knew how to live for the Lord.
We pray that you learn how Gina lived, in hopes that you take up her ways.
Gina’s supportive parents are Joe and Amy. Eli is her caring older brother, Lucy is the fun older sister, and Dinah is her beloved identical twin sister. The Schaffer family is known to be adventurous. We are as close as a family can get because of the love we share. We take pride in our Faith in Jesus and don’t hide where our comfort and peace come from.
We would not be this strong if we didn’t know where Gina’s forever home was. Thankfully, she was confident in where she would spend eternity and would often tell us that. We are grateful for that gift and for what the Lord can do in our lives, even if we’re in the valley.
Logo
The Live Like Gina Foundation logo truly captures Gina. It includes green and blue, her favorite colors. The Cross, which helps remind others of how strong her Faith was and how important it was to her. We also added peacock feathers as peacocks were her favorite animal since she was little. They are a symbol of everlasting life. Now it’s so evident to us why they were always her favorite.
